Ty Tessmann Dominates Worlds Warm-Up! [with videos and photos]

The 2013 IFMAR 1:10 Electric Off-Road Pre-Worlds are now in the books, and Ty Tessmann has made a clear statement that he is not only a world championship contender in nitro. Ty swept the A-Mains by winning both A1 and A2 in the 2WD and 4WD class! Throughout the weekend, Ty ran very strong and continued to pick up speed as the racing progressed. By the time the mains rolled around, Ty was sitting TQ in the 4WD class and 2nd in 2WD. Only 1 position off of TQ in the 2WD class prevented Ty from having a 100% perfect weekend. Ty officially is sponsored by Hot Bodies, but since they do not have a current 1:10 off-road platform, Ty raced Kyosho cars this weekend, using the mid-motor configuration in his 2WD car.

Outside of Ty taking the win, the big talk of the week was the track conditions. After a brief drivers meeting, the track crew laid down sugar on the track which drastically improved traction. For more information, please see our article on this here:

Once the sugar was laid down, mid-motor cars had a clear advantage. Team Associated drivers opted to use the CML C4.1 mid-motor conversion, and this proved to work very well with Ryan Cavalieri taking TQ honors in the 2WD class - the only person to stop Ty from a perfect weekend.
