Earlier today we brought you a story about a new sanctioning body that was unveiled today. The group, calling themselves the Radio Controlled Racing Association of America, or "RCRAA,"  posted very little information aside from a few broad statements about what they would like to accomplish.

The lack of information about who was behind this new organization caused a stir on RCTech and other social media sites this afternoon.

We were able to contact one of the people who are responsible for starting the organization via Facebook this evening and uncovered the following info:

There are four men involved so far. They are:  Robert Smith, Buddy Hodge, Lance Forhon and Dave Vance. The men are all said to have business backgrounds as well as many years of racing experience, both of the radio controlled and full scale varieties.

According to Smith, the concept for RCRAA has been in the works for over a year and was only recently pushed to fruition after issues with ROAR became more and more apparent.

The group will be "for profit," however, it will not be designed to make money. Most sanctioning bodies are run similarly.  The main goal of the organization is to make racing fair for both the privateer and the fully-sponsored driver.

While this is more info than what is posted on their website or Facebook page, there are still many questions many people will surely have. Feel free to post them here and we will try to get the answers for you.

Stay tuned in the coming days for more info on the RCRAA as it becomes available.
