Van Helmond and Briers win Belgium buggy nats Rd3 in Vlijmen
Round three of the FBA 1/10 Belgium Nationals was held at the clay track of MAC Vlijmen in the Netherlands. A clear sky with burning hot sun made it a perfect day for some good and fast dirt racing!
In 2wd it was Bruno Heremans who took the first win in qualifying, but with the win of the second and third round it was Wesley van Helmond who was able to take the overall TQ spot in 2wd. Putting Heremans on the second spot with behind him the car of Wouter Wynen. In 4wd It was Marco Briers who took the first and second qualification to put his car on the TQ spot. Van Helmond who took the third win saw himself on the second place on the grid with Nick Vranckx behind him.
In the finals in 2wd it was right from the start a close battle between the top three. In the first and second final, van Helmond showed why he was leading the national’s standings by pulling away midrace to win both finals. With one final left and two second finishes of Wynen it was case for Heremans to win the last final. After an early mistake from Wynen, Heremans took the lead and never looked back.
2wd Buggy
The 4wd finals there was a two-horse race between Marco Briers and Wesley van Helmond right from the start. Although Wesley was quicker, he could not get the moves stick when trying to pass. Twice he did but a slight mistake put him back in the followers place. With three wins Briers took the win followed by van Helmond. The race for third was even more exciting with four drivers driving the same pace in a close pack. After some great battles, Vrancks could step on the third sport on to the podium.
