Race Report by Jonathan Wang:
The KO Grand Prix is one of the biggest races in the United States. This year, they added a modified touring class and it showcased the top drivers from the US. Right from the start, my T4’18 was working great in the extremely hot conditions. Throughout the practice rounds, I had to make a few adjustments to the car to make the drop off less dramatic towards the end of the 5-minute run. After playing around with the PSS shocks and standard shocks, I went with the standard shocks and the car was much better towards the end. Qualifying was difficult as conditions of the track changed between rounds due to the weather, but I was able to hold it together and take the overall TQ.
Sunday showcased the triple A mains and from the start, my teammate Julian Wong was on the back and pushing me hard. It looked to be a hard-fought win until he made contact with a car around the halfway mark. From then, I looked over my tires and stayed on all four wheels to take the win. In the second main, again Julian put a lot of pressure on me at the start but throughout the run, my car felt better and better and was able to win A main number two and also take the overall win. A big thank you to Xray and Hudy for the major support. Our car performed outstandingly well all weekend and onto the next one.
