The PROTOform Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series Round 2 arrived at the capital city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. SARCAR hosted a great race, with a team of volunteers, in a new venue in a mall with top notch amenities, and a great track, that made for a wonderful weekend!
PROTOform Concourse was awarded to Taylor Mogard for his 12th scale, Warren Sippel for his TC Stock and Shane Syhlonyk for his USGT. All 3 top picks receive a PROTOform body with which to create their next masterpiece.
RC America/XRay TC Mod: Sometimes qualifying is an exact science, and last year’s champion Wayne May took a solid TQ and back to back wins, looking strong again with his new Associated! Fellow Edmonton racer Ryan Berry and Calgary’s Sammy Lee, finished 2-3, 2-3, and 1-2 in the final round, for a mathematically proven podium order of Wayne, Ryan and Sammy.
Team Great Hobbies TC Stock: Copy and paste the TC Mod results, Wayne, Ryan and Sammy exactly duplicated their results!
ATD Hobbies Tamiya Mini: Daryl Siba took TQ, but missed the R1 win by just 0.4s to Ivan Chan, with Will Irvine in 3rd. Daryl took it back in R2, setting up the final round battle, where he won by just 0.1s! Ivan took second overall, with Will finishing out the podium.
Blinds Plus Scale Spec: With another great turnout for this fun class, Calgary’s Sammy Lee took TQ and wins in R1 & R2. Saskatchewan’s hometown hot shoe Dennis Beck took R3, along with a 2nd & 3rd finishes, taking 2nd overall. Calgary’s Ivan Chan with two 2nd places edged out the legendary Gary Lanzer for 3rd.
CRC 12th Stock: Jason Lochthwe set a solid TQ, and then won R1, but ran into problems and tapped out partway through R2, handing R2 to Edmonton’s Way Mah, with Warren Sippel in 3rd. But Jason would get it back in R3 with the win, and overall victory. Wah and Warren took 2nd and 3rd.
Reedy 12th Mod: Calgary’s Ivan Chan would take a solid TQ and back to back wins, with Rob McCaskill and Rob McQuarrie trading 2nd places in R1 & R2. With McCaskill taking the last round, he secured 2nd overall, and McQuarrie finished off the podium in 3rd.
Gripworks F1: Calgary’s Steve Wiens set TQ and won R1 & R2 for the overall win, repeating his dominance from Edmonton. Chris Jackman and Ivan Chan would trade 2nd and 3rd in the first 2 rounds, with Chris taking the win in R3 and 2nd overall, and Ivan in 3rd.
