Press release from X-Factory:
AUSTIN WEILAND WINS X – 6 CUBED CONVERSION KIT
After a grueling 7-race series, Austin Weiland of Fraser, Mich is the winner of X Factory’s X – 6 Cubed Conversion Kit. Austin took second place overall in THE Series’ Stock Buggy class, and won the Kit as the highest-placed driver who is not sponsored in any way. X Factory is proud to support the club racer.
THE Series takes place each year at seven very different tracks in southern Michigan, one race each month from May through November, culminating with a big banquet at Dave & Busters which is free to all entrants who have done five or more races. Track surfaces vary from indoor carpet to loose sandy outdoor clay, with lap times as low as 14 seconds indoors and as high as 28 seconds outdoors. So, to do well for the entire series means a good mastery of off-road driving, and Weiland is certainly a deserving winner.
Austin took third on the carpet at Larry’s Performance R/C to open the season, then had trouble at the next two outdoor events, Litchfield and Stateline R/C, so he needed to do well at every remaining event on the calendar. Weiland did exactly that, with a pair of fourths outdoors at THE Track and T.A.R.C.A.R and thirds wrapping up the season indoors at A.M.S. and Dirtburners. When the points were totaled, Austin edged out the third place driver by one point and was the highest non-sponsored driver.
Congratulations Austin Weiland!
