AMain Hobbies is pleased to announce three more talented pro drivers going to the ProTek RC Samurai RM.1 engine program for 2025 with Jared Wiggins, Jonah Wilson, and Lee Setser coming on board with ProTek RC.
Wiggins is currently ranked among the Top 25 in the World in Nitro Buggy and is coming off the overall championship at the TNR Fuels A-Main Challenge in January. The Dixon, Illinois resident is most known for his 2022 Championship in the Invitational Class at the Visions Off-Road Championship in Oklahoma against a host of the World’s top drivers. Besides the ProTek RC Samurai RM.1 engine, Wiggins’ Tekno RC racing program also includes the ProTek RC clutch and glow plugs.
Wilson was the 2023 U.S. Junior ROAR Fuel National Champion, and now at 18 years old is one of the fastest up-and-coming young pros in the World, having recently qualified directly into the Pro Nitro A main at the Dirt Nitro Challenge amongst a stacked field. Wilson, racing out of Knoxville, Tennessee, runs a full ProTek RC race program in his Sparko vehicles, including the PTK engine/clutch/pipe combination, servos, batteries, tools, and accessories.
Setser, a well-respected pro driver out of Winchester, Virginia, has his power coming from the RM.1 engine along with the ProTek RC pipe and clutch and PTK batteries for his electric vehicles and nitro buggy/truggy receivers. Setser has posted several strong national showings in recent years, including a qualification into the prestigious Pro Nitro Buggy A main at the 2024 Dirt Nitro Challenge.
Wiggins, Wilson, and Setser join a growing movement of talented drivers opting to run the ProTek RC Samurai RM.1 engine. Ryan Maifield is the name and inspiration behind the engine and a key element of the engine’s development team and has won more than a dozen major races with the RM.1 over the past three years. Other pro drivers currently running the Samurai RM.1 include Spencer Heckert, Aydin Horne, Cole Tollard, Tyler Hooks, and Dylan Nelson.
“The ProTek RC Samurai RM.1 has become one of the fastest, smoothest, most consistent, and most reliable engines in racing for both buggy and truggy,” states ProTek RC Proprietary Product Specialist and Team Manager Chad Bradley. “It has been a pleasure working with Ryan Maifield to dial in and perfect the engine a little more each of the past three years, and now it is one of the most popular and best-selling engines in North America. We are thrilled to have Jared, Jonah, and Lee come on board and power up with our engine program, bringing even more firepower to our ProTek RC team.”
The Samurai RM.1 also has been formidable at the Sportsman and Intermediate levels with team drivers and privateers taking numerous victories in 2024 and so far in early 2025 at major races, including last week’s Intermediate Nitro Truck crown won by AJ Schumacher at the Dirt Nitro Challenge.
