The first round of qualifying was tough for some, but great for others like round 1 TQ Akio Sobue. As we move into round 2, those who didn't do well will look to improve their results in round 2. One of those looking to improve is 3 time 1/12th scale World Champion Naoto Matsukura, who had a TQ run slip away because of a body tuck incident.

Much like his previous round 1 start, Naoto Matsukura would shoot to the lead in similar fashion with his 1/12th scale rival, Marc Rheinard in 2nd. This time, Naoto would not sufffer a body tuck like he did in round 1 that ruined his run leaving the ultra fast Japanese driver drop from TQ to 8th.
The Roche driver would hang on after 8 minutes and take his first TQ of the Worlds event with a 39/8:07.388 and also the first driver to hit 39 laps. Rheinard would finish 2nd even though he wasn't able to finish his run because he would dump on track. Canada's Keven Hebert would put in a solid run, much like he did in seeding and finish 3rd with a 38/8:08.081.
