A1 saw Naoto Matsukura shoot to the front and take over the lead from Marc Rheinard. Once the 12th scale specialist was in charge, the pace was too great for the field as Matsukura would cruise to an easy win.
With nothing to lose and 1 win up on the field, Naoto Matsukura was charging hard from the sound of the tone. With a bit more speed early on than reigning champion and TQ Marc Rheinard, Matsukura was on Rheinard's bumper at every opportunity. With a surprise pass attempt going into the Dragon's head, the two champions would touch in a side to side incident that would send both drivers out of control and the field quickly upon them. CRC's Akio Sobue would take the lead with the field scattering wildly while Matsukura would recover to 5th and Rheinard 7th in the mayhem.
The costly mistake would see both drivers dig deep to make up for the lost time and Naoto would quickly dice up the field and find himself challenging Sobue for the lead. After a quick mistake by Sobue, Naoto would take the lead and drove at his own pace to claim his 4th 1/12th scale world title in dramatic fashion. With his back against the wall, Rheinard would also put in a remarkable champion's drive to finish 2nd. Sobue, who finished 2nd in A1 would find a little extra on the penultimate lap to get by AE's Juho Levanen for 3rd.
