Leading the field from the tone, Yokomo's Marc Rheinard was under pressure right away as Roche's Naoto Matsukura was on the attack and quickly looking for a way around his rival. The two drivers would slowly start to pull away as Rheinard had to push to get away from Naoto's attack. With a small bobble, Naoto would lose a bit of distance to the leader, but was able to close the gap and continue his relentless pressure within a few laps.
As the two leaders crossed to make their 13th lap, Rheinard would make a small mistake in the chicane opening a window for Matsukura to pass and take over the lead. After the 3-time 12th scale champion moved to the front, Matsukura would show his true pace and start to distance himself from Rheinard. Half way throught the race the reigning 12th scale champion Rheinard would slowly start to fade and was unable to catch Matsukura and soon fall into the clutches of Sobue, KItazawa, and Hebert.
Matsukura would cross the line winning A1 by almost 8 seconds over his competitors with Akio Sobue and Hideo Kitazawa in 3rd making it an all Japanese top 3 finish.
