Following a long delay and a final shakedown practice run, the first round of qualifying for the 2WD class ended in a thrilling finish. Former 2WD world champion Ryan Cavalieri made a costly mistake on the final lap to surrender the round win to top seed Michal Orlowski, who himself had recovered from an early crash.
