Every IFMAR Worlds event brings at least one surprise name atop the charts - and in the fourth round of qualifying it was XRAY’s Bruno Coelho who interrupted the Yokomo parade after three straight TQ runs. The 2014 Euros TQ drove his XRAY to the only 18-lap run in the heat of the afternoon at Full Throttle Raceway and, with the incredible finish, took a huge step toward his goal of making the finals in his first ISTC IFMAR Worlds.
His XRAY T4 2015 improving every run, Euros TQ Bruno Coelho said it is his dream to make the finals at the ISTC Worlds and took another step closer with a TQ run in round four. The airlines lost his suitcase that included his painted PROTOform LTC-R bodies and he had to run a Mazdaspeed 6 in practice, noting that his car got much better when he ran a one-color LTC-R practice body and is even more comfortable now running his own painted shells.
Saying that his TRF419 was good, Akio was surprised to finish fifth despite three mistakes - once when he hit the board in the corner before the finish line, and two spinouts in the right-hand 180 in the front left corner of the track. Still looking for more grip on the hot Full Throttle Raceway asphalt, Akio installed a 1mm taller shock tower for increased stability.
Defending champion Jilles Groskamp scored another top ten finish in round four, finishing sixth behind three Tamiya teammates. Still trying to extract more pace from his TRF419, he noted that with enough points now to virtually guarantee a spot in the final he can afford to take more risks both with setup and on the track.
