T4 wins BRCA national title 2014
Going in to the fifth and final round of the 2014 BRCA national touring car championship both modified and stock classes were up for grabs, for XRAY Olly Jefferies was one of four drivers along with Elliott Harper, Chris Grainger and Colin Price who could take the modified class while in 13.5 Zak Finlay was looking favourite to retain the stock title he won last year.
Rain and strong winds made for tricky track conditions over the two days but both XRAY drivers mastered the conditions in style taking TQ in their relative classes. Tom Jefferies also took a round win in the pro stock class during qualifying benefiting from being in a lower heat before the rain arrived.
Three leg finals would now decide both titles with the best two scores to count.
Olly made a perfect start taking leg one ahead of a hard charging Colin Price, Zak would also take leg one of the 13.5 A final after making a late decision to run wet tires as the rest of the field chose slicks. Zak went on to take leg two unchallenged and secure the BRCA stock championship for 2014 for XRAY.
In modified Olly was looking good to tie the title up in leg two, Olly led for the whole race closely followed by Chris Grainger, then a last corner lunge from Grainger saw Olly spun around and finish leg two in second place, the title and the meeting would now be decided in the third and final leg.
An early crash from Chris Grainger and a half spin from his fellow Schumacher driver Colin Price took the pressure off Olly a little in the early laps but leg three saw a spirited challenge from Elliott Harper, Olly controlled leg three from the front and kept his car on the racing line not leaving any gaps for Elliott to attempt a move, Olly crossed the line less than a second ahead of Elliott to take the leg win the meeting and the 2014 modified BRCA national title.
Olly adds this national title to the modified 1:12 scale title he won back in March.
