XRAY Adriatic challenge report from Jernej Vuga of TopRC
Here we are to report you about the recently held XRAY Challenge Adriatic organized on the beautiful track in Tolmin (Slovenia)! The weather was not favorable, unfortunately. Many drivers were from Slovenia, Italia, France, Croatia, Romania. On Saturday free practice was held till about 5pm, when a light tap of rain has pretty much put an end to the search for the best set-ups!
On Sunday it was the race day with the qualification started with electric powered 1/10 cars in both stock and modified classes.
In the 13.5 Stock category it was again Jan Popič (XRAY T4) who dominated in the final securing an easy win, with Stanislav Kokol (XRAY T4) to follow in second place, also with a lot of confidence; and finally Adolfo Ferraioli (XRAY T4) in third place despite a slight discomfort in the 3rd final leg.
With the same superiority as the Stock class also the Modified was dominated by Matej Miklavec (XRAY T4), while the second and third place in the great battle between Goran Vignevič and Mattia Greco.
The GT category with the category GT electric gave birth to yet another experiment in how the two groups can live peacefully with each other; however, it was interesting to see how the different strategies worked during the race. The ranking at the end of the finals was made separate, so in the nitro class it was Ivo Crepaldi who won in front of Pavlo Klancič and Daniel Dapretto in third place. In the electric class it was Miha Holc taking the win.
In 1/10 scale we saw a fight right from the first lap between Callegari (XRAY NT1) and Mariuzza, but an inconvenience on the rear suspension put Callegari out for more than two minutes to solve the problem, while a fast Chiarandini between a best lap and the other passes moved up the standings by winning a well deserved first place, and Mariuzza Callegari (XRAY NT1) took second and third position.
The 1/8 Track category lost already in the early rounds the fast Jernej Vuga (XRAY RX8) with mechanical problems and Nejc Mihelič took immediately the advantage winning with a big margin his rivals. The positions of the second and third place were taken by Alojz Osvald and Simon Štelcl.
After the prize ceremony we proceeded with the rich final lottery with well assorted prizes and a couple of XRAY 1/18 cars definitely made it very interesting. But at the end all drivers went home with a big smile.
