Yeung Wins R5 of The M.K. Power Off-Road Series

This is the 5th round of race of 2018 M.K.Power off-road championship series at XMG. XMG track is located in Dongguan, Southern part of China, about 90km away from Hong Kong border.  Racers from mainland China, Taiwan, Macau as well as Hong Kong racers participate in this race. The series planned with total 6 rounds of race for nitro Buggy class, the best 5 out of 6 rounds will be counted toward the overall champion of the 2018 series. For nitro Truggy class, best 3 out of 4 rounds will be counted.

Tekno driver Jonathan Yeung and his dad Carson from Hong Kong driving TEKNO NB48.4 (Jonathan) and TEKNO NT48.3 (Carson) to compete in Nitro Buggy class and Nitro Truggy class respectively.

In qualify rounds, Jonathan and Carson set the fastest results of the day in Q3 and both TQ in nitro Buggy and Truggy classes respectively. One of the highlight is that Jonathan is the only driver to make 17 laps in qualify.

In nitro Buggy class A-Main final, Jonathan started at 1st place and a mistake in a double jump of first lap dropped him to second place but within the same lap he took back the lead in the race and never look back. After about 20 min race, Jonathan already lapped 2nd car (Hu) by one lap and he keep pushing the speed to gain more margin. At about 37min race, 2nd car drove by Hu had trouble and returned to pit, at this time the original 3rd car (Zhan Wei) took the chance to get into 2nd place. The race continue and Jonathan finished in 1st place with 89 laps, Zhan Wei at 2nd place with 86 laps and TQ Keung at 3rd place also with 86 laps.

In nitro Truggy class A-Main final, Carson started at 1st place but mistake in 1st lap dropped him to 4th place. The leading position was swapped several times in the 30min final. After 30min race, Nelson finished in 1st place with 60 laps, Carson finished at 2nd place also with 60 laps with 4.9sec gap to the first car, Hu finished in 3rd place with 59 laps.
