Rounds 3 and 4 of the Finnish 1/12 National Championship Series were run over the past weekend in a city of Oulu in Northern Finland. In Modified class it was the reigning champion and Reedy factory driver Vesa Yli who took the TQ spot both days after a very close battle with the winner of the previous round, Panu Vehniäinen. As the first round of nationals was cancelled in late November, this meant that the champion was to be decided by the combined results of all three races together.
After intense triple mains both days it was Reedy factory driver Vesa Yli who took convincing victories both days with flawless drives just in front of Panu Vehniäinen, the runner-up from the previous year’s championship. Following the two front runners was legendary racer Petri 'Goldi' Ström, a multiple-time Finnish champion, international pro buggy racer, and long-time Reedy driver, scoring a third place podium finish in the Championship.
This is Vesa’s third 1/12 Modified title in a row and eighth National title in all classes combined since he joined the Reedy factory team in 2012. Congratulations, Vesa!
