Team Rossendale Models / Durango were running the 2WD Team Durango DEX210 buggy, with Nosram ESC and Speedpassion 8.5 motor. The car was virtually box-stock, with no changes to the gearbox at all. Indeed, the car was built from the first batch by team driver Stu Evans – as it was his personal race car that was being used for the event!
After the initial couple of hours had settled down and the racers had found their rythm, Team Rossmod-Durango settled into a good pace and with minimal preparation – the 2WD car proved its worth – lapping consistently and with trouble-free running. Toward the end of the race there was a real battle between the two teams running 2WD – but in the end there was no touching the DEX210 and team Rossmod-Durango took second overall, and first of the 2WD cars.
The Rossmod-Durango team weren’t filled with expert drivers and there wasn’t even a quick-change battery system adopted by the team – instead they relied on team work and the reliablilty of the DEX210 – the only car at the race meeting that didn’t have a single problem during the whole 24 hour period.
The only other team not to have a single mechanical issue of any sort were team ‘Scottish Warriors’ – with only a minor electrical problem delaying their Team Durango DEX410 on its way to a solid 5th overall.
The York 24h endurance race is a fantastic and fun annual event which grows in popularity every year. Thanks to team Rossmod-Durango and the Scottish Warriors for choosing Team Durango as their vehicles of choice. Roll on 2013!
