CML Race Report:
The BTCC this season has provided most of the touring car national drivers with a great warm up for the national series, given that CML / Associated driver Zak Smith will go in to the final round of the BRCA series with his confidence high after winning the final round of the BTCC at Mendip over the weekend.
With most of the national competitors present at Mendip it was a quality field and Zak qualified in fourth place with his Novak powered TC6.1, a great result for Zak after a season that has been punctuated with some frustrating results.
Backing up Zak in the A final were Alan Bickerstaff and Olly Jefferies, both the senior members of the team struggling to match Zak's pace on this occasion and unusually for them supporting Zak rather than leading the team from the front, a testimony to how the team works to support all the drivers in the team and develop their potential
Zak came through from fourth to take the overall win in the A final on a track that traditionally suits his driving style and one he has performed well at in recent years, he now heads for the national in two weeks with not only a boost in confidence but a good set up for his TC6.1, Olly was third in the A final, a result that gives him third overall in the BTCC series.
The final round of the BRCA national series is now less than two weeks away at Mendip and with a chance of the title Olly Jefferies may be looking to Zak for some set up guidance to assist his championship challenge, Olly is one of five drivers who can win the championship at Mendip
