After a fun-filled week at the IFMAR 1:10 Offroad World Championships, we uncovered new cars, new products, and new rumors/gossip. One rumor that has been confirmed true is that Kurt Wenger (former Team Associated engineer) will be leaving AVID R/C. Kurt has decided to step out on his own, and pursue his passion of engineering with a company of his own!
Kurt had the following to say about the decision:
"Life is full of surprises and vast possibilities. When I first partnered up with Avid almost two years ago, I thought this would be a perfect fit to bring innovative and exciting products to the RC enthusiasts. However, new opportunities have developed that necessitate a big leap and I am excited to be launching a new brand in 2014 with a commitment to creating performance parts and accessories. My true passion has been, and always will be, to create quality and high performance products that:
1) Enhance the R/C experience through superior performance
2) Are able to compete at a World Championship level
3) Are attainable to the average customer.
Having my own brand will allow me to push the envelope without constraints and introduce more variety to the R/C industry. When a driver runs a Kurt Wenger product, they should have confidence that it will improve their experience and performance; whether it’s an innovative wheel design, a useful shock tool, or a revolutionary slipper clutch.
Another passion that I have is grooming and encouraging new racers. So I plan to invest a portion of my focus and energy to this interest. In 2014 I plan to launch my first “Coach Clinic” that partners with race events to share my 25 years of racing experience as a championship driver and mechanic. We will cover things like driving technique, racing lines, and racer prep to help reinforce my goal of enhancing the R/C experience for every driver. We are excited to see what comes out of the Kurt Wenger product line, and wish him the best in his new venture!
