13 year old Adam Munds prepares to host the 2014 RC Fest charity event

 

When it comes to R/C racing, there are a LOT of events around the world taking place. Some are simple club races, others are major world champion crowning events. Somewhere in between are those very special events that are a mix of great racing, great fun, and all for a great cause. One of these very special events's is known as RC Fest. What is RC Fest you ask? We have caught up with our new friend Cindy Munds to give us all the details.

 

Cindy says, "My son is the 13 year old boy who hosts an annual R/C event called RC Fest. Adam is a R/C hobby enthusiast. What Adam does with his passion for R/C cars may surprise you though.

When Adam was 10 years old he asked his father and I if he could possibly do a bash type event for his friends. We agreed but wanted to make it into a learning opportunity for him and we wanted him to donate his money to a charity of his choice.

Adam has been doing a one day event since that first show in 2011. RC Fest is the name and it has grown into one of the biggest one day events in our area.

ALL of the proceeds he makes he donates to Community Blood Services of Illinois because as an infant he needed platelet transfusions in order to sustain life.

Adam has donated over $2700 and helped the blood bank by getting 60 units of blood donated at his event. He has done this by getting donations from companies for his raffles off such as Horizon Hobby, Tower Hobbies, CowRC, Big Squid, MIP, MaxAmps, Viper, Xpert and others.

RC Fest will be held this July 26th here in our home town of Tolono IL. We expect over 100-150 spectators. Last years event had 70 registered vehicles and this year will be even bigger!"
