The Reedy Truck Race of Champions has been a staple of the Southern California off-road scene for over a decade, held annually at Hot Rod Hobbies in Santa Clarita, CA. Originally offering only stock, modified, and nitro 1/10-scale stadium truck classes (with separate "Factory" modified and nitro divisions), the race has undergone a few changes throughout the years to mold around ongoing trends in the industry - like the addition of 19-turn brushed classes, 1/8-scale truggy, and most recently short course in 2WD and 4WD flavors.

The biggest news of this year's "RTR" is in the stock class. This year, after the drama surrounding technical inspection of the 17.5-turn stock motors at the Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout back in July, Hot Rod Hobbies owner Jimmy Babcock has decided not to enforce ROAR rules but rather allow any 17.5-turn motor - with no mention yet of what kind of inspection, if any, will take place. In an open email to those who had signed up on the Hot Rod Hobbies site, Jimmy said:

"The Annual Reedy Truck Race of Champions hosted by Hot Rod Hobbies is less than a month away!!! Be sure to get signed up for this very popular event!!! This years race will be a 2 day affair with all the top drivers in attendance!!! There will be 3 rounds of qualifying on Saturday using qual points and your best two rounds will count. Main events on Sunday!!!

The Reedy Truck Race will feature 2 bump ups which means the top 8 make the show and 2 bump in making a total of 10 in each main! There will be practice available on Thursday October 2nd and Friday October 3rd from 9am to 6pm. Practice fee on Friday is included in your paid entry. There will be a $10 practice fee on Thursday. We WILL NOT be observing the ROAR motor list at this years event so any 17.5 motor will be allowed to be use even if it's not on the ROAR list. Also, any driver is allowed to race any class with two exceptions. Rookie must be true rookie drivers and no factory pro driver allowed in lower classes.

Trailers and motorhomes are not allowed due to our lack of parking. All participants will receive one free t-shirt with their paid entry. To sign up you can print the flyer, fill out the bottom and mail it in. You can pay via PayPal jimmy@hotrodhobbies.com or you can simply pay when you arrive. There is no entry limit on this event so everyone is welcome!!! It's going to be an exciting weekend in beautiful Saugus, CA so get those entries in and start making your plans now!"

[UPDATE: 9/9/14 2:15 PM PT] - The ROAR legal motor list will be enforced for the Stock classes at the Reedy Truck Race.
