A service in memory of Jimmy Storey was held earlier today in his hometown of Huddersfield, who passed away on May 31 after a long battle with illness. He was 41 years old.

Though he was an enthusiastic racer himself, Storey was best known to the RC community as the founder of oOple, among the first dedicated RC racing news sites to hit the Internet at the turn of the millenium. The site features a lively message forum in which he interacted with racers from all over the globe.

Jimmy's enthusiasm for the hobby burned as bright as the color he often wore his hair, and his style for product reviews and race coverage inspired many who followed in his footsteps - including us here at LiveRC.

Before creating oOple, Storey found success as a video game developer working for 3D Realms working on such titles as Duke Nukem 3D and Rise of the Triad before returning home to England. He was a passionate photographer as well, a skill that spread far beyond his portfolio of brilliantly captured moments of British RC racing lore.

Storey also organized races around England using the oOple name, including the oOple Invernational and the OOOS - or oOple Off-road Open Series. Last weekend, the second round of the 2015 OOOS season was held at Dunfermline, where the group photographed this touching tribute.

Storey is survived by his wife, Vicky.

Everyone here at LiveRC offers our condolences to the Storey family and shares with the RC community in grieving the loss of such a memorable man.
