T4, XB4 & XB2 on podium at DHI cup 2016

 The 2016 edition of the DHI Cup was once again held at the Fyn Arena in Odense, Denmark. This race always marks the start of the year for the on-road racing, and has in the past years gained a large popularity in the off-road category as well.

In the modified category, I finished practice, qualifying, and the finals, all in 3rd position. At times I came closer, but most of times I had to settle for 3rd as I struggled to find a better pace this time.

I finished 3 times 2nd in qualifying, which gave me the 3rd spot on the grid, behind Ronald and Viljami. Some small setup changes through practice and qualifying, improved my car a little. I ended up running a setup quite close to that of the first ETS round in December. But I had changed to a carbon chassis, as well as a floating steering system, to generate more traction on these low grip LRP tires.

In the finals, I had a rough start as I got taken out by an other driver in A1, which dropped me down to 4th, and I didn't have the pace to recover.

In A2 my car felt better, following a small setup change, but I made an own mistake on the 2nd lap which demoted me to the 10th position. I eventually fought back to 4th, and had the pace to catch the drivers in front.

In A3, I held on to an important 2nd place, even under hard pressure from Berntsen. 3rd overall in the final standings is not a poor result considering that we didnt find a 100% working set-up this time. Bruno Coelho, and Marek Cerny also showed great pace in the Modified A final for XRAY!

In the stock category, Marek Cerny finished in a strong runner up position behind the dominating Tim Benson. Marek secured 2nd overall by winning A3 in front of team mate and 3rd podium finisher, the "iron man" from Germany , Jan Ratheisky. Mike Gosvig and Manuel Wagner also made the A final with their XRAY T4'16 cars!

Race report by Martin Bayer:

 In off-road class Martin Bayer was there to drive 2wd and 4wd class and Bruno Coelho to drive 3 classes 2wd,4wd and on-road modified. On Friday we had 4 rounds of practice. I start with my starting set-up and both cars feels good. Bruno have less practice because sometimes few times had same practice on both track. Cars feels very good and we have been ready for qualification. Saturday qualification day, racing was only on one side so Bruno had much more time for preparation each class. Due less practice for Bruno he was starting in slower group witch has big effect on his starting position in main.

We finish 5th and 7th in quali. Not very good result but cars feels good and ready to fight. 4wd was little more lucky Bruno TQ and I start from 5th again.

Sunday finals, we start with triple A-main of 2wd. Bruno had pretty bad luck after start and has been moved to start always from back. I had more luck on start a manage to get to the front. In the end I finish 2nd overall and Bruno 10 with bad luck. Definitely he had pace to win race.

After we moved to 4wd class where Bruno start from first place. We both had easy speed to win but it was not our day because we made stupid mistakes witch cost us better position. Bruno finish 3rd and I was 4th. Witch is not bad but we had cars to win.

I was very happy to see in main final of 4wd our young guns Malin and Alexander, very good job!
