West Coast R/C Raceway "Supercross Series" Rd.1 race report

The starting gate dropped on the highly anticipated “4th Annual SuperCross Series” at West Coast Raceway in La Mirada CA. The hotly contested series premiere, attracted 165 of So-Cal’s best racer’s, with a mix of factory drivers and fast local sportsman. A completely new SX track was designed and installed specifically for the first 4 rounds with the last two rounds getting a different layout to keep things fair. As always, the high bite, damp clay surface was in prime condition for some intense action at Southern California’s premiere facility. With the series end trophies on display and a cash pay-back to the top 5 at the end of the series, the 1st round was intense and incredible to race and watch!

  

22 stacked heats were announced by WCRC’s own Notch Johnson, who kept the race action lively and flowing throughout the entire day and into the evening’s main events. From the Beginners to the Modified classes, everyone was busy all day in an effort to get their vehicles dialed for the first qualifier on track… West Coast Raceway’s doors opened up early to accommodate the numerous attendees’, which resulted in controlled practice before the first qualifier started at 2pm. Live AMA SuperCross was playing on the big screen TV’s throughout the facility, adding to the already exciting day…

Round #2 is scheduled for this next Saturday (March 30TH), so be sure to put it and the other remaining rounds on your race calendar! Jimmy Babcock will be our guest announcer for Round #2. Remember, the series has a best 4 of 6 rounds count scoring, with participation points and TQ points added each round. Rounds #4-6 are offering double participation points and a completely redesigned SX track layout… Up for grabs is a lot of cash purse money, trophies and a product raffle to paid entrants during the May 4th round (#6). West Coast Raceway will have points maintained promptly after each event with podium photos available for viewing on its website and Facebook page!
