Midwest Electric Series Race Report:
Report by Rod Morney

The third round of the Midwest Electric Series was held at Clark R/C Park in Reeseville, WI on Saturday July 27, 2013.
The weather forecast originally called for a clear day, but there was overcast amongst us. We did encounter a few short spurts of mist. However, it did not stop the racing program.

There were approximately 77 entries ready to lay the hammer down at this amazing backyard facility. This is by far one of the top RC tracks in the Midwest. Tim and Crew definitely know what it takes to host an event for racers. Furthermore, they go all out to ensure all the racers have a great time and all that they need.

To kick off the racing results was the Rookie class, Alex Knapper was the TQ for this race along with Aaron Burton in 2nd. The race would finish just as they qualified with Alex taking home the victory.

In the Blinky 2wd SC class, it was Cory Yoder getting the TQ. Mason Perillo would start 2nd and Adam Ska starting 3rd. In the end it was Cory Yoder going wire-to-wire to claim the 1st place victory, Johnny 5 taking 2nd and Mason Perillo would finish 3rd on the podium.

There were 3 heats of 2wd Open SC with Grant Puffer on the pole in the C-Main. Karl Weaver would start in 2nd with Corey Curtis starting 3rd. Grant was having issues during the race which caused him to finish low on the grid. Ken Swanson took lead shortly after and did not look back for several laps until he made some mistakes. He relinquished the lead to Karl Weaver who also made some mistakes, but prevailed in the end to take 1st. Ken Swanson finished 2nd and Matt Pocernich in 3rd.

Adam Ska started the B-main Open SC class 1st on the grid with Bucky Buckman 2nd and Tom Knapper starting 3rd. This was a very close race with all 9 drivers in contention. This was definitely any persons race to win. Tom Knapper would lead the race to the checkered flag with Jeffro coming from Mid pack to claim the 2nd position and Adam Ska in 3rd.

The A-Main Open SC class, Frazier was the TQ with J Dubb starting 2nd on the grid and Eric Schultz starting 3rd. This race would get out to a good start with the top positions racing nose to tail. At the end, it was Chris Nelson would bring home the victory with Frazier in 2nd a J Dubb finishing 3rd on the podium.

Open stadium Truck class A-main would have Cole Tollard as TQ, Kurt Schmidt starting 2nd and Ted Schmidt starting 3rd. Kurt had problems mid race which left Cole and Ted to lead the pack. Cole put the cruise control on at the end of regulation taking home the honors. Ted Schmidt finished 2nd and Cory Yoder to finished 3rd on the podium.

There were 3 heats of 2WD Open Buggy class with Ted Schmidt getting CQ , J Dubb starting 2nd and Travis Stensrud in 3rd. The race ended with Ted finishing 1st, Brian Burton 2nd, and J Dubb getting 3rd.

The B-main 2wd Open Buggy class would have Eric Schultz starting 1st on the grid, Corey Liebherr 2nd and Chris Nelsen starting 3rd. This was a very close race from start to finish, but it was Corey Liebherr finishing 1st with Chris Nelson right on his bumper in 2nd, and Sarah Ernst finishing 3rd.

The A-main Open Buggy class would have Cole Tollard starting TQ on the grid, Chad Due starting 2nd and Aaron Alexander starting 3rd. Cole and Aaron went head to head. Chad Due would fall back in the race early, but would make an amazing come back to finish in 3rd not far behind the leaders. Cole and Aaron had a very good battle all the way to the finish and it was Aaron who nudged out Cole just .3 sec ahead.

In the Open 4X4 SC B-main Tony Kerpan was the BQ with Karl Weaver starting 2nd on the Grid and Corey Curtis 3rd. There were 6 drivers in this race all on the same lap pace racing their hearts out to get to the podium and possibly bump to the higher main. It was Tony Kerpan to lead wire to wire for the 1st place finish. Karl Weaver finished 2nd on the grid with Lane Stein finishing 3rd.

The Open 4X4 SC A-main would have Allen Richards getting the TQ position with Eric Schultz starting 2nd and Rod Morney starting 3rd position. The race would begin with a dash toward the first two corners. Positions quickly changed order because there was some bumping and grinding during the 1st few laps of the race. Allen led most of the race only to make mistakes and lost the lead to Alec Walters. They were battling for the lead position, but it was Alec who got to the strip in 1st with Allen close behind.
