Race report from LRP:

LRP at the Touring Car Euro – Full report!
Two titles won by Ronald Völker (Modified) and Marek Cerny (Stock), a completely Blue podium in Stock and four drivers in each of the A-mains - it was just a great event for LRP!
The 2014 EFRA 1/10 Electric Touring Car Championship was held in Alcobendas near Madrid, Spain. Weather conditions were great with much sun and up to 32°C. The 314m long asphalt track featured a medium grip level. All drivers, team support and spectators enjoyed the great facility and excellent organisation of the local club. Racing at this year’s Euro was exciting not only because of the tough competition. It was also the new tyre rules that forced the teams to choose a well thought-out tactics as the difference between new and old tyres proved to be quite big. Drivers got two sets of tyres for the five qualifying rounds and one set for the three finals.

For the first time, Modified and Stock competitions were united in one high-class event. 42 drivers in Modified and 22 in Stock had travelled to Spain with all the top guys among them. Reigning World Champion Jilles Groskamp, Marc Rheinard, Viktor Wilck, Alex Hagberg, Elliott Harper and Bruno Coelho made it a highly competitive field. The LRP team was attending with Modified drivers Ronald Völker, Freddy Südhoff, Steven Weiss, Loic Jasmin, Olly Jefferies and Viljami Kutvonen. In Stock, Blue is Better was represented by Marek Cerny, Jan Ratheisky, Mattia Collina, and Mike Gosvig. The event saw highest level racing from the beginning with top speeds of up to 107km/h (Modified) and 80km/h (Stock).
Modified class
The LRP team managed to choose almost perfect tactics, resulting in being able to place four cars in the A-final of the Modified competition. Only the pace of Portugal’s Bruno Coelho proved to be unbeatable in qualifying. He took a well deserved TQ spot ahead of Ronald. Loic Jasmin (6th), Steven Weiss (9th) and Freddy Südhoff (10th) topped off a very promising qualifying for Blue is Better.
A1 saw a tough fight between TQ driver Bruno Coelho and Ronald Völker. Both had decided for a new set of tyres and showed the spectators great racing. Ronald put constant pressure on Bruno, but he had to wait until the penultimate corner when the Portuguese left a bit too much space and Ronald had the chance to get past. A1 finished with Ronald on top ahead of Bruno Coelho and Marc Rheinard.

In the second final, the rest of the field raised an attack on the top drivers. Some of them were also taking advantage of new tyres. Bruno Coelho was hit by bad luck in A2. After making a few small mistakes and with no more chance to win, he decided to retire and preserve tyres. Now, it was title holder Ronald Völker in the lead. Consequently, Ronald controlled the race and defended the gap to Alex Hagberg who was also really fast in this run. Ronald Völker crossed the finish line first ahead of Alex and Marc Rheinard to take an early victory in the Modified class of the 2014 EFRA Euro. The combination of Ronald’s impeccable driving performance, high-power LRP equipment and Team Yokomo’s Umino’s support came out on top again.
The last final had to bring the decision about the Vice European Championship title. While Ronald didn’t start, it was World Champion Jilles Groskamp who came out on top. Marc Rheinard finished second, directly ahead of TQ driver Bruno Coelho. The Portuguese Champion secured the overall second spot on the podium ahead of Marc Rheinard.
LRP could also be happy about the results of the other team drivers in the finals. Freddy Südhoff climbed from qualifying position ten to the seventh place while Loic Jasmin finished eighth and Steven Weiss tenth. British LRP driver Olly Jefferies took the second place in the B-final.

Stock class
In the Stock class, it was all about which Blue would be better. The final ranking list of qualifying saw four international drivers relying on the LRP speedo, motor & battery package on 1-2-3-4! Czech Marek Cerny took the TQ spot ahead of Italy’s Mattia Collina and Germany’s Jan Ratheisky while Danish driver Mike Gosvig had to settle for the fourth place.

It is all about the details in Stock racing. With all of the four drivers relying on equal equipment, driving and tactics would decide over the victory. And despite the constant pressure that Jan and Mattia put on him, ETS Stock winner Marek Cerny kept cool also at this Euro. After Mattia had won A1, Marek proved to be unbeatable in the second and third finals to win the 2014 EFRA Euro. Jan Ratheisky and Mattia Collina changed positions in the finals, resulting in Jan being second overall on the podium and Mattia third. It was Pierre Delorme who was able to brake into the LRP phalanx to take the fourth place ahead of Mike Gosvig. A completely Blue coloured podium with complete LRP Stock racing package and four drivers in the top five! Just wow! Congratulations also to Team Xray having nine out of ten cars in the Stock final.
