With two TQ runs in the four available rounds of qualifying, Yokomo’s British star Lee Martin will start the Triple A-Mains for the 2WD portion of the IFMAR Worlds Warm-Up race from the front of the grid. Following him into turn one will be Team Associated B5M designer and 2013 Worlds finalist Kody Numedahl, as the American locked himself into the position with a second place finish in round one at a TQ in the second run.

Numedahl’s Team Associated teammate and Martin’s countryman Neil Cragg, a former 2WD World Champ, starts third ahead of the XRAY XB2 prototype of Martin Bayer. Young Japanese sensation Mastsugu Ido, who first entered the RC world’s spotlight at last year’s 1/12-Scale World Championships, will line up fifth with his Yokomo.

Behind Ido follows another American Team Associated driver, as Carson Wernimont wheeled his modified B5M to the sixth starting spot. He edged out defending Japanese national champion Naoto Matsukura, who won last year’s 2WD event also at Yatabe Arena - albeit on the permanent off road track, which was also covered in astroturf. Matsukura’s Kyosho RB6 is the team’s only car to make the top ten.

The final two spots in the 2WD A-Main were claimed by long-time Japanese racing veteran and former national champion Shinya Kimura’s Yokomo, and his teammate Marc Rheinard - fresh off of the Reedy Touring Car Race of Champions victory.

Defending world champion Jared Tebo qualified 20th.
