While the LiveRC crew was setting up to broadcast this weekend's CRCRC Midwest Electric Championships at The Ohio RC Factory in Jeffersonville, a new 1/10-scale buggy tire was spotted on Mark Pavidis's personal 2WD buggy during practice.

When asked for more information, Pavidis said the tire is provisionally named the "Cross Link," and that the two pairs shown here are the only two in Ohio - but that a pre-production run completed on Monday was boxed up and shipped for team drivers to try out this weekend.

The carcass features V-shaped tread that effectively creates diagonal, intersecting bars across the tire with small pins inside the vacant spaces - though it's considerably less cluttered than the Chain Link tread pattern. The tire is molded to fit a 2.2-inch wheel and made from AKA's existing Clay compound for this weekend's race.

Because the tire is still so new in the development stage, Mark was not able to give a part number, price, availability date, or suggest what compounds will be used.
