While the electric off-road world competes at the IFMAR Worlds in China, a rumor has surfaced that former nitro off-road world champion Cody King has signed with Serpent.
The anonymous source who informed me of the move said that King is joining Serpent America as a West Coast representative, perhaps indicating that the position will include some form of team management in addition to racing. King will be Serpent's highest-profile nitro racer in the U.S., following the departure of Mike Truhe at the end of the 2015 season, and help provide a strong presence on the West Coast as well.
An official announcement is expected, but no word on the timeline.
[UPDATE - 11/17, 5:05 PM]
Paul Ciccarello of Serpent America sent me a Facebook message suggesting that the rumor was a bit premature. This is what he said:
"I’m not saying he wouldn't be racing for us in the future, or even some other pros, but nothing is signed and done. So Cody King rumored to maybe be racing for Serpent is true; Cody King signed with Serpent not true."
