We first heard about the company, RSector, as we announced their distributorship in the UK through X Factory UK. After learning a little about RSector we were very impressed with what they had to offer!
RSector is a USA company based out of Norcross, Georgia. The company manufactures a variety of carbon fiber hop-ups and accessories for a variety of different vehicles including Tamiya F104, Tamiya TA06, and our personal favorite the Losi Mini 8ight.
As we are in full mini-mode bashing and racing all over with our Losi Mini 8ight, we knew that the RSector carbon fiber parts were something we HAD to get ahold of! Our trusty mechanic, Sam "I Am" Reed of Fastlane Raceway, got to work in no time and had our Mini 8ight ready to rock in less than an hour!
First up is the 3mm Carbon Fiber Front Shock Tower. This new tower is an easy replacement for the stock Mini 8ight tower and features extra mounting positions for ultimate tuning when setting up your Mini 8ight to race. The tower's design is spot on and fits perfectly in place of the original stock tower. The 3mm carbon fiber is definitely a weight saver, yet is still durable enough to withstand even the hardest hits. The biggest shock of all, is the price! This ultimate tuning hop-up is only $13.99!
Next in line was the rear end hop-up using the 3mm Carbon Fiber Rear Shock Tower. The rear tower, similar to the front tower, is made up of beefy 3mm carbon fiber for added durability, provides and extra mounting position, and is once again a perfect and easy fit replacement for the stock rear tower. With a pricetag of only $14.99, you can't go wrong!
Last, but not least, is the very trick two piece Quick Spur Change Carbon Fiber Top Deck. The original Mini 8ight top deck is plastic and is quite a time consuming monster to remove and replace or change spur gears (which the car has a tendency to strip from time to time). RSector has come up with the ultimate in weight saving, and easy to change system. The RSector top deck is shorter than the stock one, and a seperate aluminum mount (included) replaces where it would normally cover the spur gear. This aluminum piece requires the removal of 4 screws (as opposed to 8 screws and esc when using the stock top deck), to simply remove the spur gear assembly. The RSector Quick Spur Change assembly is not only durable, very functional, but also adds major style points to your ride for only $29.99.
Overall we were very impressed with the RSector line of Mini 8ight hop-ups! The quality is excellent, the fit and installation is perfect and easy, the added mounting positions provide additional tuning, and our favorite part is having everyone in the pits drooling over how cool they all look! The entire RSector Mini 8ight hop up parts lineup will set you back just under $60.00, and in our opinion is worth every penny of it!
Racer Tip: Run a thin bead of CA around the edges of the carbon fiber parts to prevent splitting and cracking.
