Serpent announced earlier this week the all-new 977 VIPER, but left us with little details and no photos. Today, they have released a few teaser shots as well as a few details which confirm this is in fact a new car from the ground up (not just an "upgraded" 966).

Serpent says:
"Serpent will release a complete new 1/8 scale onroad car in February, 2013. Designer Michael Salven went all out on this exciting new masterpiece, with input from many Serpent racers!

A very worthy next step after the very successfull Serpent 960 and 966 series. Around 80% of the car is new. We kept the Centax TrueMotion clutch, 2-speed gearbox, wheelaxle-sets, driveshafts and bumper. All other is newly designed, fast and supereasy to work on.

Michael just came back from the final test in Valencia, Spain with a big smile on his face. All is tested and approved, so it's a full go ahead! The Viper 977 goes into production now, as further testing is being carried out, also to testing new options and finding the best default set-ups in Spain, Italy, USA and UK for now."
