Nothing is more frustrating that a good race ruined by tires falling off the rims. Randy Pike, of Panther Tires, has sat down and put together a little "how-to" guide to gluing up your short course truck tires! While this guide is based off of SC tires, the same principles and tactics work beautifully when mounting almost all R/C tires!

First prep your tires. Punch 3x 1/8” holes at equal space apart from each other. Next clean the glue beads using either Windex or isopropyl alcohol and a shop towel, allow to dry.

Mount the outside tire bead into the wheels bead WITHOUT the insert installed. Place a Panther Tire Glue Band on the tire, placing pressure on the bead joint.

Use your CA glue with a straw/tube and glue this joint first. Allow to dry.

Once the glue is dry on the first bead joint, flip the tire inside out over itself.

Mount the tire insert. Begin pulling the tire over the insert.

Set the bead into the rim and again use your Panther Tire Glue Bands to put pressure on the glue Joint. Glue this bead and allow it to dry, you’re done!

Additional tips from Randy Pike:
  • Always use fresh CA glue. Old glue can cause failed glue joints. Store your CA glue in a zip lock bag in your refrigerator to lengthen the shelf life.
  • I prefer to use a “thin” CA glue as I find it seeps into the tire bead joints without having to excessively pull and unseat the joints while gluing. Also always try to use the glue tube or straw, it makes for cleaner joints and prevents excessive glue usage, saving you $$!
  • Always use a clean rag or shop towel to clean your tire beads, not your shock oil rag!
