Welcome to LiveRC's weekly column, "Talk-It-Up Tuesday!" Here we spend a little time talking with industry icons including racers, manufacturers, team managers, developers, promoters, and everyone in between! Sit back, relax, and go behind the scenes as we interview them all!
Each year we see more and more drivers coming on the scene as consistent front runners and mixing it up with veteran pro drivers at major events. One driver in particular who has really stepped up the game in the last several years is Team Associated/JConcepts driver, Max Flurer. Max has not only stood on the top step of the podium at multiple major events recently, but also has proved to be a driver that can, and will, run with the best.

For this edition of "Talk-It-Up Tuesday" we decided to sit down with Mr. Flurer for a few words:

LiveRC: Thank you Max for joining us for this edition of "Talk-It-Up"! Let's start by talking about the Psycho Nitro Blast where you won 2wd SC, 4wd SC, AND E-Truggy. How do you feel after dominating three of the truck classes?

Max: It felt great to be able to win all three classes this year. There was some really close racing in all the mains and I'm happy that I was able to walk away with the wins.

LiveRC: In the past few years you have really come on strong, especially in short course racing. Would you say short course is your "specialty"?

Max: I guess you can say it is my specialty class since that's mostly want we run around my region so I have the most time in with those cars.

LiveRC: When did you first sign a contract as a pro driver, and who was it with?

Max: Team Associated and JConcepts both picked me up around the same time at the end of 2011.

LiveRC: What are some of your favorite AE and JC products, and what products do you wish they offered that aren't currently available?

Max: My favorite AE product would have to be the B4.2. I don't really get to run it much at my local tracks so whenever I get the chance to run it I really look forward to it. For JC, I would say it's the IFMAR 3D tire. There is just something about it that I really like and I run it whenever I can. All the products that they have out are great and I can't really think of anything that I would add to the list they already make.

LiveRC: Do you race R/C as a career? If not, what is your "day job"?

Max: I wish R/C racing was my career! One day I hope it will be, but right now I work full time at Custom Works R/C.

(Max was a contender at the Reedy Race of Champions earlier this year.)

LiveRC: How do you stay on top of your game and prepare for races such as the Psycho Nitro Blast?

Max: It's like working a second job at this point. I spend a few hours a night after work going through cleaning and fixing whatever cars I need for the next race.

LiveRC: When you're not busy with R/C, what are some things you like doing outside the sport?

Max: I don't have any other hobbies at this point. All of my time and money is going into traveling and preparing for the next race. When it's not R/C I normally just go hang out with some friends or go out for some drinks.

LiveRC: Best and worst moment in R/C?

Max: At this time I would say winning the Iron Man at the PNB was the best moment so far. Worst moment I'm sure there are a lot of them but I cant really pick one that stands out the most. I really try to forget about them as soon as possible and move on to the next race.

LiveRC: What race is next for you on the 2013 schedule, and what will you be racing there?

Max: My next race will be the first race in our NC/SC Series at the R/C Pit in Lugoff, SC. I'll be running E buggy, 2wd SCT, 4wd SCT, and maybe some nitro buggy for the first time in a few years.

LiveRC: Thank you for joining us for Tuesday "Talk-It-Up"! Is there anything you would like to add?

Max: I would just like to thank you for taking the time to interview me and thanks to all of my sponsors and friends who help me enjoy this great hobby. Team Associated, Reedy, JConcepts, Spektrum, LRP, CR Graphics and Advantage Racing Products.
