PROTOform Better Edge System Sanding Drum
$28.00
Whether you are racing onroad, offroad, oval, or even rock crawling, the one thing that makes your car stand out from the crowd is the body. A sweet paint job and matching decals only look good if you cut the body out nice and neatly. In my recent "Moment with Mike: Road to Onroad" adventure I found myself trying to neatly cut out and mount my new touring car body. Using a standard rotary tool with standard 1/4" sanding drum, my body lines and wheel wells turned out looking more like lexan ocean waves than a racecar body.

Before I totally ruined my first ever touring car body, I picked up the new PROTOform Better Edge System Sanding Drum. This giant 1.5" sanding drum is designed specifically for R/C bodies by PROTOform. It fits directly into your standard Dremel or rotary tool, and features a super trick appearance and easily replaceable sanding band.

Pros:
  • Easily assembled and fits directly in place of your "standard" sanding drum.
  • Replaceable sanding bands available from PROTOform.
  • Sanding band is aggressive enough to sand down lines, but leaves clean edges.
  • Giant 1.5" diameter makes sanding round wheel wheels and straight lines much easier.

Cons:
  • Being a specialty tool, it costs specialty tool price.

Conclusion:
Did we find the PROTOform Better Edge System Sanding Drum helpful? Absolutely. Using the PF sanding drum we were able to correct our wavy wheel wells and bumpy side lines on our touring body, not to mention we went back and cleaned up our nitro engine cut outs and wheel wells on our offroad buggy, truggy, and short course bodies with it too! While the price of a specialty tool such as this is higher than your standard sanding drum, if you cut and sand a good number of bodies and/or get frustrated with the time and effort it takes to precision sand using a small sanding drum, then this product is for you!

Team Losi Speed-Shot Fuel Gun
$39.99

When it comes to nitro racing, even the fastest driver on the track can easily lose a race with a few bad pit stops. To speed up pit stops, almost all major teams and factory driver mechanics use a fuel gun. Simply open the tank, pull the trigger, and your good to go!

We finally retired our old school fuel gun and decided to try out the Losi Speed-Shot Fuel Gun. The Speed-Shot features a clear plastic design with fuel level markings. An extended tip with vented design allows for quick re-fueling and solid fit in the tank. It easily holds up to 150cc of fuel, which covers almost everything R/C, including 1:8 truggy tanks.

Pros:
  • Completely fills a 125cc tank in approximately 1 second.
  • Clear design and fuel markings allow you to figure fuel usage per pit stop.
  • Easy to fill using standard fuel bottle.
  • Increased our pit stops by 2-3 seconds over standard fuel bottle.
  • Keeps your car clean, and puts the fuel IN the tank.
Cons:
  • Out of the box the Speed-Shot leaks considerably from the fueling tip.
Conclusion:
Overall the Lost Speed-Shot fuel gun is very lightweight, durable, and easy to use. On the flip side, right out of the box the fuel gun has a tendency to leak out of the fueling tip. After a little online research, we are not the only ones to encounter this problem. To our delight, we found a solution. Carefully taking the gun apart we adjusted the sealing plunger approximately a 1/16" farther forward than it was originally placed. This seemed to solve the problem and give a solid seal. After a little extra time fixing the leak, we are now quite happy with the Losi Speed-Shot Fuel gun's performance.

THURSDAY TESTIMONIALS - RANDOM ITEM OF THE WEEK:
Each week outside of the R/C world we test out and use a variety of items in our daily routines that have absolutely nothing to do with R/C, and THIS is what we think of them!

Racer's Edge Fusion Tire Glue
$7.99

Now you may be wondering why an actual R/C product is the "Random Item of the Week!" Not to mention, we have product tested this item in the R/C world once already HERE. The Racer's Edge Fusion Tire Glue is this week's random item because I have put it to the test OUTSIDE of the R/C world.

For whatever reason while shopping yesterday evening with some friends, I purchased a 12-pack of shipping tape. It was on sale, and I'm always in need of tape for one thing or another. After shopping we all headed back to my place, and decided to chill out watching some TV. While we were all sitting around, my cell phone rang. On the other end was my dear grandmother. When your grandmother calls your obligated to spend a minimum of 30 minutes on the phone discussing the ironic weather changes, hummingbird family in her bird feeder, and/or the neighbor kids riding bikes in her yard. Needless to say I couldn't hang up the phone, and before I knew it my so-called "friends" had opened up my fresh 12-pack of shipping tape and not only taped by wheels together, but also taped me to my wheelchair.

Now down to only 1/2 a roll of shipping tape, I knew that after I escaped this was too little tape to retaliate. This is when I found my brand new bottle of Racer's Edge Fusion Tire Glue...

Pros:
  • Thin formula makes gluing shoes and flip-flops to the front door welcome mat very quick and easy.
  • Small bottle design allows for easy hiding while dropping a squirt or two on your friend's chair seat.
  • The clear liquid glue is virtually invisible when strategically placed on the one remaining roll of tape, in which you knew someone will grab onto in an attempt to re-retaliate.
Cons:
  • Your friends shoe rubber, pants butt, and palm skin will be stuck to your property for years to come.
Conclusion:
While I may roll like a butterfly, I sting like a bee. Racer's Edge Fusion Tire Glue is my number choice for revenge against any and all shipping tape attacks nationwide. Don't believe me? Just ask the guy who's walking around with only one shoe, the guy who's wearing the pants with a kitchen chair stuck to the back, or the guy with a tape dispenser stuck to his palm.
