We have received encouraging news for the growth of our hobby today, as our friend Tom How (organizer of events such as the "Rat Race"), has put together the  an RCSkool club at Fen Bilimleri School in Istanbul, Turkey.

The club meets every Thursday afternoon for 2 lessons at the school and gets instruction from Tom about everything to do with R/C Racing, team racing, marshalling, rules and regulations, and maintenance etc.

The students are aged between 10-12 years old and use Maverick 1:18 buggies. Tom's hope is that other schools will start their own clubs in coming school years.
Tom says, "The students all have a great time and you can see some pictures and info at www.rcskool.com. We are having our first race day and R/C Show on 22nd November 13:30pm – 16:20pm. There will be 4 race days in total between November 2013 and June 2014.

We have designed a track and had ramps made thanks to the school and sponsors. It will be a great day for all the students at Fen Bilimleri School because they will all be able to watch and join in because the school has cancelled all lessons. We are also having a show of R/C cars and have invited some top drivers from the Turkish R/C community, we have also been lucky enough to have two R/C companies sponsor the event. We will have a real timing system set up for the students using Mylaps hardware, so it will be a real race for them."

Student racer roster:
  • 5A Kerem Gürsoy
  • 5B Direnç Bağcı
  • 6A Deniz Terzioğlu
  • 6A Bora Işık
  • 6A Alp Eren Kaya
  • 6A Eren Anbar
  • 6B Ömer Oğuz Özkahraman
  • 6A Ahmet Avci
  • 6A Taylan Yurdadoğ
  • 6A Utku Yildiz
  • 7A Ahmet Öztürk

News of any organization or R/C club, anywhere in the world, is always encouraging to hear. We wish Tom and his students the best of luck at their upcoming event!
